At 4,565 meters (14,977 feet), Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest peak and Africa’s eighth-highest mountain. It is nestled within Arusha National Park, offering a captivating trekking experience with awe-inspiring landscapes and diverse wildlife. The Mount Meru Climbing 3 Days trek showcases the beauty of Tanzania’s wild heart.
Throughout the journey, trekkers will traverse distinct ecosystems, from lush forests to alpine deserts. The fertile slopes of Mount Meru are home to nearly 400 species of birds and a variety of wildlife, including colobus monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, and antelopes. As you climb, the views of wildlife and nature’s beauty continue to evolve.
On the trek, you will visit Miriakamba Hut and Saddle Hut. These stops offer a chance to rest and enjoy the scenery. Along the way, you’ll also get to see the Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. These volcanic formations are awe-inspiring.
The final stretch takes you to Socialist Peak, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. This summit is a perfect reward for your hard work during the trek.

- Departure and Return Place:Â Moshi Town to Mount Meru Gate and then back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (Google Map)Departure Time:Â Please be ready by 8:15 AM for a prompt departure at 9:30 AM.Return Time:Â Approximately 1:30 PM on the last day.Dress Code:Â Casual. Comfortable athletic clothing, hiking shoes, hat, cold weather jacket, gloves, pants, and spare clothing.

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our team will be there to welcome you. You’ll be transferred to your hotel as per your booked program, giving you time to relax after your journey.
Later, your head guide will meet you for a detailed briefing about the trek, conduct a gear check, and assist you in renting any equipment you may need. This ensures you’re fully prepared for the incredible Mount Meru adventure ahead!

Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to Momela Gate, where a short registration process takes place before starting the trek.
Accompanied by a fully armed ranger, you’ll hike through Arusha National Park, offering a rare opportunity to spot wildlife up close. Along the way, keep an eye out for elephants, zebras, giraffes, monkeys, antelopes, and more roaming freely in their natural habitat.
After an exciting day of trekking, you’ll arrive at Miriakamba Hut for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the serene beauty of the mountain.

Today’s trek is short but steep, as we ascend from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut, located just below Little Meru. The trail follows a scenic ridge, offering breathtaking views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone along the way.
Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, a hot lunch will be served before taking on a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m). If you reach the summit before sunset, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views, making for an unforgettable experience.
After soaking in the sights, we return to Saddle Hut for dinner and rest, preparing for the final ascent to Mount Meru’s summit.

Our summit push begins early at 1:30 a.m., with a steep climb to Rhino Point (3,800m) and then to Cobra Point (4,350m). If we make good time, we’ll witness the breathtaking sunrise over Mount Kilimanjaro, floating above the clouds.
The final stretch is an exhilarating trek along a narrow ridgeline between the inner cliffs and outer walls of the crater, leading us to the summit of Mount Meru (4,565m)—the second-highest peak in Tanzania!
After celebrating our achievement at Socialist Peak, we descend back to Saddle Hut for a well-deserved brunch. From there, we continue down to Momella Gate, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Moshi for a hot shower and rest.
